DEIA Training for Development Office (w/ Dr. Shan Mukhtar)

Description
Contracted by the UC Davis Development and Alumni Relations (DEVAR) office to provide assistance with their efforts to recruit, hire and retain talent in an inclusive manner.

Dr. Johnson partnered with Dr. Shan Mukhtar to prepare a substantive program of engagement with key stakeholders in DEVAR at the University of California, Davis. Johnson and Mukhtar gathered data from a small collection of minoritized professionals in University Advancement from their network employed outside of UC Davis. Insights from these respondents were summarized and shared to help inform and improve the outreach and employee onboarding strategies deployed by UC Davis. Johnson and Mukhtar also delivered customized DEIA content to help build capacity for inclusive excellence internally.

Project
Inclusive pedagogy training for English Department (w/ Dr. Janelle Adsit)

Description
Contracted by the English Department at Oregon State University to provide assistance with their efforts to promote inclusive pedagogy practices.

Dr. Adsit partnered with Dr. Johnson to design and deliver an inclusive pedagogy skillshop with a focus on positionality, representation and counterbias strategies. Skillshop participants were guided through a series of classroom case studies and provided with the opportunity to reflect on their own social identities and how intersecting axes of privilege, domination and oppression inform their teaching practice.
