Consulting

Our approach to solving a problem is directly related to our understanding of the cause of the problem. HigherEdInclusion does not take a deficit approach to addressing issues of inequity or campus climate concerns. Our consultants engage with your community to understand its assets and work with you to find ways to build on your abundant strengths and create the campus you want and that your community deserves. Following an initial consultation, we can conduct an assessment and work with you to determine how best to meet your needs based on the parameters (timeline, resources, goals) you set.

Coaching

Dr. Johnson is a seasoned leader with professional experience in public state institutions, private liberal arts colleges, and the corporate sector. He has worked in the south, the northeast, and the west coast. A caring mentor, he is the person his friends often bring their problems to even though he routinely acknowledges he is “not that kind of psychologist.” As a social psychologist, Dr. Johnson is interested in how people experience their environments and the operation of group dynamics. He is an ATIXA Certified DEI Practitioner, graduate of the National Association for Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE) Standards of Professional Practices Institute, and has formally trained managers and supervisors in Inclusive Leadership.

DEIA Education

It is critical to distinguish perfunctory DEI training that simply checks a box from a strategic and intentional practice that embeds DEIA education into your workplace culture. HigherEdInclusion can provide custom content for your institution to help your teams develop the critical competencies needed for inclusive higher education professionals. Our affiliated consultants are familiar with every functional area in higher education and can design a session or curriculum to address persistent issues or emerging concerns. At our core, we are educators, and can effectively deliver content virtually or in-person to small and/or large groups.
